Its been a week since i had this job to re-install Windows on SATA HD. The problem is that when I try to install Windows XP on it, the system wont recognize the SATA HD. I got stuck on trying to burn a Windows CD embed with SATA driver, also have tried to make floppy SATA driver from the Mobo CD Driver.
So tonight i try to install on this SATA HD with Debian Linux on my own PC after successful Windows installation (hope its own PC will recognize the SATA HD after this installation). Ups… but i forgot that i should have done it in reverse.
So what happen to me is that i cant log in to my Debian Linux. And this is what i do:
- I boot from Ubuntu Live CD (i have ver 7.04 so i use it)
- i go into Linux Terminal and try to re-install grub
- type “sudo grub” and the terminal will bring you to grub command line
grub > find /boot/grub/stage1
and the grub will locate where you have installed your grub.
grub > setup (hd0)
in case it shows you that the grub is on your first HD (hd0)
after successful installation, type
grub > quit
And then i restart my PC and i’m facing the grub loader. Upsss.. i forgot that i attch my second HD with Windows XP on it too. So what happen is that the grub reads 2 Windows XP Installation on my PC. Exactly…
The things is,,, now i cant log in to my own Windows XP on my Second HD when i boot from my second HD. It seems that it has something to do with the MBR on my second HD.
So i insert Windows XP CD and boot from it. I chose to Repair the Windows XP installation and go into the Command Line. After chose my Windows XP installation and entering Administrator Password, then i typed:
C:/WINDOWS > fixmbr
then the system ask me am i sure really want to do this?? and say “yes”. After the fixmbr process succeded, then type:
C:/WINDOWS > exit
to reboot and try to boot from my second HD.
Now it’s all go well…

Wah, boleh tuch dicoba.
Kapan2 kalo da masalah, tanya2 zo.
Situ kayakx dah lumayan banyak pengalaman di linux.
